When Mooncrash was released, lots of reviewers described it as roguelike (or rogue-like-like or whatever term you want to use to be less strict about matching the Rogue formula). It adds a neat meta-layer to everything where you're not just plotting out where to go, but in what order. Or maybe you pick the opposite order, clearing out the enemies first so your hacker can sprint to the places that need hacking unthreatened. Now your fighty dude can sail through this complex fully unlocked. Then next send in the engineer to repaired all the broken stuff and it stays repaired. So you can first send in one character to hack all the computers and leave them unlocked. What makes it even more interesting is that the facility itself persists after each character's run (whether successful or failed). Already that's interesting to me, forcing me to shift play-style and attack the same facility from completely different angles. So there's only one character who can Hack, one who can Repair, one who can mind control, etc. Mooncrash gives you 5 separate characters, each who only has access to some portion of that skillset. There were some achievements that rewarded you for picking only one half of the tree, and maybe you had a preferred play-style where you only used certain types of abilities (maybe you were sneaky/avoidy and didn't throw big crates, or maybe you were super fighty and couldn't be bothered sneaking rather than shotgunning) Given enough Neuromods (found or fabricated) you could theoretically get all abilities. In Prey, you had a giant tree of Neuromod abilities to choose from. I just finished Mooncrash and loved it, so I'll try to give my viewpoint.
